Happy Birthday Dr. Pressey!

To My Dear Beloved Sister

I have so many things to be thankful for, but I am most thankful for you.  You have always given me support and love when I needed it most.  Thank you for being my greatest cheerleader.  Happy Birthday!

I will be forever grateful.  Love you forever!

Tribute to My Precious Wife

This day is filled with mixed emotions as I commemorate the birthday of my Beautiful Wife, Dr. Doretha Pressey.   While she is not physically present with us she continues to occupy a very special place in my heart.   I have so many fond memories of our amazing journey of over 40 years.  She was an extremely loving, giving, and unselfish person.  She was also an amazing and talented Educator.  I am immensely thankful to GOD for blessing us with an amazing partnership where we loved each other unconditionally and supported each other unselfishly.  GOD blessed us to accomplish so much during our special journey which was filled with success, failure, ups, and downs but she was determined to keep us focused on moving forward.   I remain indebted to this phenomenal wife for the encouragement that she gave me when I was sometimes at my low points to get up and keep pressing forward.  Out of all the blessings we shared I am most thankful that GOD favored us with two extraordinary, beautiful, talented, and precious daughters ( Bre & Snosha) and as I look at them I certainly see many of her wonderful traits and characteristics in them.

On this special day SOUTHERN SCHOLARS honors Dr. Doretha Pressey, the impetus legacy, and foundation upon which the organization is built.  I encourage you to take a brief moment during this day and help us honor her with a moment of Silence.

Continue to Rest In Peace my Love,

For Mommy

For the longest time growing up, I imagined that inanimate objects could talk.  I thought that if you just listened closely enough you'd be able to understand them.  I'm pretty sure this mostly came from watching Toy Story, and The Brave Little Toaster.  My favorite memories are when my Mom and I would come up with different voices and create all sorts of dialogues for our cars.  For as long as I could remember, my Mom always encouraged my creative pursuits.  And no matter how bad things looked, she was always the first one to cheer me on.  I love you so and miss you so much, Mommy!  Happy Birthday!

For Aunt Doretha

Throughout my life, I remember my Aunt and Grandmother cooking things and I would ALWAYS ask for the recipe and get denied.  My Aunt Doretha made an amazing macaroni and cheese and each year, she'd send a picture of her creation, typically around my birthday.  Today I purchased what I think are the ingredients, but I'm sure it won't be anything near yours, but a girl can try.  Next time we meet, I will ask again... Love you!
